Video and audio plays a key part in the University's teaching and learning, research, marketing and communications, public relations and community engagement activities. The Guidelines for Video and Audio provide a framework to create video and audio content to ensure it meets minimum quality and brand standards.

The guidelines support anyone who produces video and audio for the University.

Guidelines for Video and Audio (Staff Hub)

The Digital and Online Channels (DOC) team manage and maintain the Digital Guidelines, a separate set of guidelines available for those building University of Melbourne websites.

The Digital Guidelines should be used for all sites that sit on the University of Melbourne domain/URL (

The DOC team also has a range of resources available for setting up websites, domain name protocols and web style guides.

Unless you have an approved, official co-brand or unique identity, all University of Melbourne bodies and entities should use the University of Melbourne logo as their social media profile picture.

If you are setting up new social media channels, please read the Social Media Guidelines (log in required) and contact the Social Media team for advice and assistance.

Official University-owned and operated podcasts should follow the Podcast Guidelines when creating their avatars. The Design team (staff access only) offers a free design service for podcast avatars. Contact the Brand team for advice and assistance on using the University brand and logo across your avatars and podcasting platforms.

A range of assets is available for producers developing videos presented by the University of Melbourne. These are available for University staff on the Staff Hub.

All University of Melbourne videos should be produced in line with the Brand Guidelines, including fonts, colour palette, patterns, aperture, focus marks and use of the University logo.  Note: You can use the video on the home page of the Brand Hub as a reference point.
