Typography
In order to ensure consistency across all our communication, the University has two approved fonts available for use.
Brand fonts
The two typefaces available for use across printed materials are:
- Source Sans Pro
- Noto Serif
Only use the brand fonts if you are printing your document or are certain that the fonts are available on other computers your document will be viewed (eg you are sending a report to external parties to be edited). We recommend using our alternative safe fonts across the Microsoft Office suite.

Downloading the fonts
Downloading the fonts is simple.
University of Melbourne staff may install the fonts via the Software Centre on their computer as a direct download.
Install Software with Software Centre (PDF)
The fonts are freely available for download from Google.
Using the fonts
Source Sans Pro
Source Sans Pro should be used in the majority of cases, including body copy, for a clean modern look.
